who has the best products in the woodworking industry. My answers is the same (I’m slightly biased as I do stock their machines) SCM. To add credibility to my argument you just need to look at this recent news release.
They do pretty much everything …………
SCM HAVE THE WIDEST RANGE OF WOODWORKING MACHINERY
SCM have the widest range of woodworking machinery on the market today and can manufacture and supply machines from their Classical Range up to Planer Moulders and Wide Belt Sanders.
The newly designed Spindle Moulder, model TI 155EP Class, with new software for the management of tools has the machine composition with C.E. configuration, an upper mobile control panel, “Flex” spindle moulder fence with automatic movement, “Fast” section table with automatic movement control and a feeder support with automatic movement, all controlled by the “Easy” programmer. An “LL” version, with 2 profiling extensions, glazing bead unit with rapid exclusion from the work table, H-E version with HSK B 63 rapid tool changer and HSK spindle length 140mm are all available.
The SI 400EP Nova Sliding Table Panel Saw is equipped with the new micrometric adjustment for the stops complete with LCD readout and the Parallelogram swivelling frame used for angular cutting. With a 400mm diameter saw blade, a generous 140mm depth of cut is enjoyed or 97mm with the blade tilting at 45 degrees. With the Easy electronic control, up to 5 axes can be controlled.
The S6300 L’Invincible Thicknesser has new devices such as the 2-axes programmer for the management of the work table positioning and inverter for the variable feed speed of 4 – 20 metres / minute, plus pneumatic pressure adjustment on the feed rollers, electronic thicknessing work table positioner with the feed speed control, “Tersa” monoblock cutterblock with throwaway knives and an outfeed work table extension. With a generous 630mm working width, 300mm max. working height, 3.5mm min. height and 8mm maximum stock removal each pass, the S6300 is an essential machine for all woodworking and joinery shops.
The S400 WS is the new SCM TecnoMax Sliding Table Panel Saw for the small to medium-sized workshop requiring panel sizing and breakdown and has been designed to offer the best price / performance ratio on the worldwide market today.
The constructive philosophy of the S400 WS, winning already with the previous models within its range, has been exceeded by some new and innovative technical solutions.
The saw unit can hold a 400mm diameter saw blade. In this way, the maximum blade projection from the table is a generous 130mm. The unit is mounted on a ribbed structure fully manufactured from cast iron, which provides great sturdiness and solidity.
The structure that sustains the saw blades slides vertically on two dovetail-shaped guide ways, for maximum precision and stability during the lifting of the unit. Tilting of the unit is performed on lateral steel supports. Blade lifting rise and fall and tilt are performed by fixed hand wheels. On request, the S400 WS can be equipped with powered movements, for a better ease-of-use for the operator.
The saw unit is provided with a scoring unit with an independent motor, adjustable from the outside of the machine without the need of tools, for precise and fast positioning without any movement. The unit can be provided, upon request, with 2 main blade rotating speeds. Great precision and straight cuts with the sliding table which slides on prismatic, hardened and ground guide ways are obtained, fixed without using any glue, whose thickness could affect the sliding and cause inaccurate cutting.
The panels are easily loaded thanks to a large dimensioned squaring frame with an idle roller at its extremity. It is possible to square 3200 x 3200mm panels and easily make angled cuts up to 45degrees, even on both frame sides, using the telescopic fence with 2 reversible stops. The parallel fence slides smoothly on a 40 mm diameter round bar and it is adjustable through a rack, granting micrometric precision.
The SCM ‘TEN 220 CLASS’ is a tenoning machine that is always ready for use, select the tool and then simply activate the selector switch to begin machining immediately. The time needed for machine adjustments is a vital aspect because it can have a negative effect on productivity, above all for joinery workshops which often machine many different parts in small batches.
The ‘TEN 220 CLASS’s secret lies in its special tool changer. The tools, usually mounted on the spindles, can be inserted directly on to the machine, without wasting time on adjustments, and with no test passes required that wastes time and money.
The rapid tool changer system derives from the technology tried and tested on numeric control machining centres, for which SCM is the World leader. SCM supplies ‘state-of-the-art’ solutions for all requirements, without compromising safety, quality and the choice of optional devices.
A remarkable amount of time is saved particularly if combined with the SCM ‘T150 Class’ spindle moulder, the ‘TEN 220 Class’ can give typical time savings of 75% for all machining typical of joinery workshops. Plus, this machine has a device which allows simultaneous tenoning of two identical workpieces.
From SCM’s wide range of Planer Moulders, the models Sintex and Compact, are at the lower end of the range but now include many items as standard that were previously options, including electronic settings for fast setting up.
The Sintex NT is a Planer Moulder supplied at a very competitive price for woodworking and joinery companies that want to enter the throughfeed machine market for planing and with a limited moulding facility. It can have automatic control of the height and width settings by CNC (Sintex NTE) and has a 12mm moulding capacity for the left vertical spindle.
The minimum / maximum working width (finished section) is 23 / 180mm and the minimum / maximum working height (finished section) is 6 / 105mm. Feed speed is 6 – 12metres/minute and the spindle speed is 6000rpm driven by powerful 10Hp motors.
Straightening of timber is ensured with the infeed horizontal reference engraver and a 1700mm infeed table assists straightening even with the longest timber lengths, with 2300mm an option. A sound enclosure covering all the horizontal and vertical spindles means the noise and dust emission levels are reduced to a minimum. A Quick-release feed unit positioned before the surfacer makes workpiece infeed easier for the operator, especially with short workpieces (Optional).
The Compact NT and NTE are the latest additions to the Compact series of Planer Moulders and are stronger, safer and more versatile than previous models. It is manufactured from a single piece steel machine base machined on a CNC Machining Centre in one single clamping operation, thus ensuring datums are not altered. The infeed and working units have all been revised and improved to provide the very best finishing quality.
The Set-Up system ensures easier and faster set-up between changeovers and re-tooling times. A new design of pressure shoes, fences and exhaust hoods guarantee maximum machining precision. An axial adjustment of 40mm and a profiling capacity of 40mm together with an electronic controller as standard for the rapid adjustment of the workpiece section, plus feed speed changes, with an Inverter, ensures the Compact NT and NTE is the machine for the serious manufacturer.
All units are enclosed in a soundproof cabinet and the machine controls are all at the front of the Compact making it easier and safer to set up and operate. Centralised manual lubrication is included as standard. An outfeed Universal Head is available complete with 360 degrees adjustment to provide the highest degree of versatility.
The new Wide Belt Sander, model Sandya 300, from SCM is ideal for solid wood calibrating/sanding and the sanding of veneered panels that is a “typical” requirement of all small and medium-sized woodworking and panel processing factories. It has a very strong structure and a high level of standard equipment included, such as 1900mm sanding belt lengths.
Among some of the leading features are the second combined operating group with a roller and a larger diameter are available, an elastic sectional pad with a wider contact area and with extractable graphite cloth, and a single motor with transmission of power for different speeds on the first and second operating groups.
Some advantages of this new model of sander are rapid set-up and controls with electronic positioning for the working thickness and readout of absorbed main motor power through the exclusive digital ammeter, flexibility with rapid work changeover utilising pneumatic cylinders for the positioning of units during machining, better finishing of the machined work pieces with pads having wider contact surfaces and rapid and easy substitution of the extractable graphite cloth.
The elastic sectional pad provides the maximum versatility both for solid wood and veneered panels (also with honeycomb support such as doors). The TSE 20 electronic sectional pad provides optimal finishing when sanding shaped, honey-comb and irregular-shaped panels.
The models CS (combined roller/pad unit) and RCS (roller plus combined roller/pad unit) are available in 950mm and 1100mm working widths with 4 to 170mm working thickness. A 15HP motor and a feed speed of 4.5 / 9 metres/min is included as standard.
Not bad eh?
